Sun Wukong's story begins on the Flower Fruit Mountain, where a magical stone, nurtured by the energies of Heaven and Earth, gives birth to a stone. From this stone emerges Wukong, a monkey unlike any other—gifted with extraordinary strength, speed, and intelligence. As he began exploring the forest, Wukong discovered other monkeys and decided to live with them.

One day, the group was relaxing near a waterfall when they decided to play a game: whoever was brave enough to jump through the falls and find the stream's source would be named the King of Monkeys. When other monkeys were still hesitating, Wukong immediately leapt through the waterfall and travelled up the stream to find its source. His mission was successful, and he returned to declare himself king.

As years go by, he becomes a disciple of the Taoist master Subhuti, who teaches him the 72 Transformations — allowing Wukong to shapeshift into almost anything — and the Somersault Cloud, a technique that lets him travel thousands of miles in a single leap.

As Wukong's power grew, he was tricked by the Gods into becoming a lowly stable keeper, which enraged him.

Refusing to endure this, He declared war with Heaven, annihilating 100,000 celestial warriors, defeating all 28 mythical constellations, beating up the four Heavenly Kings and even taking down a few gods. What happens next? You'll have to find out your own in the game!

And that's the backstory of Sun Wukong. He has become a symbol of strength, rebellion, and redemption in Chinese culture. His story has been retold countless times, but Black Myth Wukong is set to introduce this legendary figure to a whole new audience.
