Table Manners Session

Hi everyone! Welcome to dining etiquette class. Today, we're going to learn how to eat with confidence and class—because good manners never go out of style!
Here’s what we’ll be going over: First, how to properly use utensils. Second, the do’s and don’ts at the dining table. And finally, some tips for when you’re at a formal dinner.
Let’s start with table manners. Alright—first things first: napkin on your lap as soon as you sit down. It’s simple, but shows you’re ready.
Wait until everyone’s served before eating—that’s just good manners.
Try not to talk with food in your mouth, and chew quietly.
And, elbows off the table while you’re eating—classic rule, still matters!
Next up—utensils. This one trips a lot of people up, but it’s easier than it sounds. If there are lots of utensils, start from the outside and work in with each course.
Taking a break? Rest your fork and knife neatly on your plate.
Done eating? Lay them side by side across your plate—kind of like a signal.
And don’t wave your fork around while talking—you’re not giving a TED Talk!
Lastly, some quick dining do's and don’ts. Do say 'please' and 'thank you'—always appreciated. Offer food to others before serving yourself—it’s polite and thoughtful. Now for the don’ts: don’t talk with your mouth full, and keep your phone off the table.
Alright, that’s all for today’s lesson on dining etiquette. Great job today, and I’ll see you in the next class!
